tangro picks up the pace in SAP document entry

Press release: Software provider from Heidelberg scores points with an innovative approach for processing incoming documents directly in SAP systems.

tangro software components gmbh from Heidelberg has set itself some ambitious goals. In the coming months, the software development and consulting firm wants to massively expand its business in Germany, Europe and overseas. The focus of this offensive campaign is the unique tangro approach for processing incoming documents in SAP systems. tangro maps incoming document processing in full within the SAP system, unlike conventional competitors’ systems which are located upstream from the SAP system. The basis is formed by SAP add-ons and workflow solutions that support all processes from order-to-cash to purchase-to-pay transparently and directly in the SAP system. It doesn’t matter whether documents are received on paper, via e-mail or electronically via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). Document analysis and data comparison between the incoming document and the master data and transaction data from the SAP system take place directly in the SAP system. This saves customers high investment costs in upstream systems.

What’s more, the unique tangro architecture enables short implementation times for projects on the basis of which the SAP add-ons are developed. Thanks to graphical process modelling, this software architecture ensures a direct connection between business processes and the application software. Every change in the process model immediately modifies the procedures in the software, too. tangro provides ideal support for implementing individual customer requirements due to the high reusability of software and process modules. Project times for standard rollouts are reduced considerably and the overall project risk is minimised.

Deep integration in SAP instead of upstream systems

Normally, defective documents have to be processed in the systems located upstream from SAP until the data is accepted by SAP. This requires interfaces and a time-consuming and resource-intensive export or import of master data and transaction data from the SAP system. With tangro, neither of these are required thanks to the full integration of incoming document processing in the SAP system. The tangro solution highlights deviations graphically directly in the document and complements them with a comprehensive SAP log. tangro accesses the navigation options within the SAP system to obtain information. What this means is that there is no need for the usual separation into a technical workstation located outside the SAP system and a workstation for the processing clerk in the SAP system. The tangro approach even enables speedy implementation of additional requirements which usually involve expensive and time-consuming interface adjustments. All employees need to do is check, correct and save the deviating data.

The heart of the development: the tangro architecture

tangro’s development approach uses a combination of reusable software and process modules. Using graphical process modelling, tangro combines software or process modules to instantly form an executable application with the aim of creating a seamless transition from the corporate process into the tangro applications. The focus here is on the business management process and not on the technology. This creates both industry-specific core applications and individually customised solutions. The user can activate or deactivate process parts as required.

This architecture enables tangro to work quickly and economically, while meeting significantly higher quality requirements than individual solutions. What’s more, tangro applications are characterised by enormous flexibility. Each change to the graphically mapped process chain automatically modifies the software workflows, too. This more than halves project times during development.

“The many different programming languages and strategies of software development have not yet made any significant improvements in simplifying software”, is how Andreas Schumann, inventor of the tangro architecture, explains the tangro approach. “The tangro platform on the other hand is taking a completely new direction. We push the technical components as far into the background as possible and start with a precise analysis of the processes in the company – right down to the detail level. We represent these processes graphically by using existing process templates, rearrange them or add new process modules. We largely use existing software components here. The result is an application that is as functional as it is flexible. This is our response to the use of customising or process modelling to adapt complex, non-transparent standard software to suit the needs of the customer. With an average of just five man days per project rollout, our approach puts us head and shoulders above the competition.”
