Need something to stop you snoring? VitalAire has what you’re looking for. The Hamburg-based company specialises in respiratory home care and provides equipment for artificial oxygen supply. So VitalAire doesn’t just help patients with lung-related health problems, but also makes it possible to treat heavy snoring.

VitalAire, which has 600 employees and generates an annual turnover of €110 million, acts solely as a service provider, which means that it doesn’t manufacture the equipment itself but hires it out and maintains it on behalf of the health insurance companies. It’s an area that generates a massive amount of documents: medical prescriptions, delivery notes from the oxygen suppliers, patient correspondence and all the communication between VitalAire and the health insurance companies need to be entered for accounting purposes and saved in SAP. This ensures that VitalAire can provide the necessary proof for settlement with the health insurance companies, among other things.

A sizeable portion of these documents is still sent to the company’s eight branches in paper form. Then there are documents received by fax, e-mail or EDI. Altogether around 2,500 documents with some 3,500 pages need to be processed, which means they have to be sorted by document type, scanned and have their content entered in SAP.
